Life Stage Regular Health Care Special Procedures
Kitten 
<12 Months

  
  °   Full Physical Exam
  °   Fecal test and/or deworming
  °   FeLV/FIV Snap Test at 6-8 weeks
  °   FVRCP vaccine at 6-8 weeks
  °   FVRCP vaccine at 12-16 weeks
  °   Consider Leukemia (FeLV), FIV, 
and FIP vaccines at 12 weeks
if cat will be indoor/outdoor
  °   Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks
  °   Start flea & endoparasite 
       prevention 
  °   Full annual physical exams


 
  °   Neuter surgery (males)
  °   Spay surgery (females)
  °   Pre-anaesthetic 
  bloodwork & urinalysis
  °   Discuss pros & cons of 
  declaw surgery

 
Adult  
1-7 years

  °   Formulate appropriate vaccine
       schedule for life style
  °   Discuss dental care
  °   Fecal testing annually
  °   Continue flea and intestinal 
       worm prevention 
 
  °   Full screening lab work at 
       least every 2 years -CBC
       serum chemistry, etc.
  °   Consider vaccine titers as 
      opposed to vaccination for
      certain vaccines
  °   Dental cleaning as needed
  °   Screening thoracic and 
       abdominal radiographs
  °   Screening electrocardiograms

 
Golden Years 
> 8 years
 
  °   Full physical exam every 6 months
  °   Monitor weight changes
  °   Discuss age related diet changes
  °   Modify vaccine schedule
      appropriate for age and lifestyle
  °   Discuss common age related 
     canine ailments
  °   Fecal/Flea prevention continues

  °   Annual Wellness Testing
       CBC, biochemistry, T4, 
       urinalysis, electrolytes, etc.
  °   Consider vaccine titers as 
      opposed to vaccination for
      certain vaccines
  °   Thorasic and abdominal 
       radiographs
  °   Dental cleaning as needed
  °   EKG yearly
