About Us

We are a team of passionate professionals who understand your love for your pet.

At Ashbridges Bay Animal Hospital most of us have pets at home, so we know exactly how important your pet is to you! We are passionate about building relationships with every four-legged family member who walks through our doors and in ensuring they stay happy, healthy and by your side for as long as possible.

Ashbridges Bay Animal Hospital is a leading edge veterinary clinic servicing central and east Toronto. We believe in harnessing the latest innovations in equipment, medicine and procedures to ensure your pet receives only the highest quality in health care.

Ashbridges Bay Animal Hospital is a new clinic,  established in 2008 by Dr. Singh. In April of 2009, Dr. Kelly Cummings joined the practice and it 2010 the hospital joined the Pet Wellness Network. With extended hours and a dedicated staff the practice soon became a busy and trusted neighbourhood locale.

Thank you to our wonderfully eclectic clients whose support and referrals continue to help us grow in  Toronto. We love you and your fabulous pets and deeply appreciate your patronage. We will always remain committed to providing you the very best value for the very best in pet health care.

Our goal is to deliver leading edge health care to your pet.

We believe that excellence is the cornerstone of our practice and we abide only by the highest standards. We’re pet owners too, and we know the value a pet brings to your life, that’s why we focus on preventive medicine as the benchmark for superior veterinary care.

It’s normal to be curious about who will be caring for your pet. That’s why we invite you to meet our team right from the comfort of your computer!

Dr. Johanna Hume

Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine

Dr. Johanna Hume seemed destined for a career in veterinary medicine given that her first word, “Zack”, was the name of her dog. Born in British Columbia, she moved to Ontario at the age of 7 and grew up in Toronto’s east end. She did an undergraduate degree at McGill University with a double major in biology and geology, and completed a master’s degree at Queen’s University in reproductive endocrinology. During her studies she volunteered at several animal shelters and veterinary clinics, and as a master’s student she worked closely with the university veterinarian. It was through these experiences that she realized that veterinary medicine was the career path she wanted to follow. Dr. Hume started at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005 and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2009. Having recently finished her maternity leave, she is thrilled to be able to join the team again at the Ashbridges Bay Animal Hospital. Johanna lives with her husband Alex, baby daughter Natalie and two kitties, Rufus and Ayla.

Dr. Kelly Cummings

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Cummings graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005. She received the ‘Prize for Practitioner Skill’ award for being voted by her classmates as the person they would choose to care for their pet if their pet was ill. After graduation, she worked at a large veterinary practice where she expanded her skills in the areas of surgery, medicine, dentistry, and exotic pets, until she ventured out on her own at the Ashbridges Bay Animal Hospital. Dr. Cummings enjoys the feel of this smaller practice, and loves that it allows her to develop a special relationship with all of her patients and their families. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Cummings enjoys spending time with her husband Alain, their two children Kayla (3 years) and Bentley (1 year) and their fur-children Jedi (Australian Shepherd) and Blac Kat (a black cat).
